Connecting Our Past and Present with Thread: Dizzy Gillespie

In this virtual workshop, we will combine musical inspiration and the creative process. Join embroiderer, Nichole Sorhaindo and Museum Curator, Kevin Strait, as we explore the artist, Dizzy Gillespie.
Using a pre-printed image of Dizzy on fabric, we’ll add bold stitches and thoughtful details that express the sounds of his horn. You’ll learn beginner-friendly techniques using kits that will be shipped to you with everything you need — fabric, needle, thread, hoop, and pattern — so all you have to do is log in, stitch, and celebrate his legacy.
Space is limited. Tickets include the cost of materials needed for the activity, instructions, and postage. Participants must register by December 28th to ensure the materials arrive on time.
